Just as i tipped Iraina Mancini before her band Mancini found their way into the finals of the Channel 4 MobileAct Unsigned competition, i have another one.

Ladies and gentlemen, meet Kayleigh Dunlop. This young lady is really quite special and going places. She’s one of BMA’s latest editions and already got into the Lads Mag hall of fame. What makes her different is she actually has something to say for herself; there is substance behind the make-up and photography, which is extremely rare.

“Believe in being yourself, do things for you and you’ll meet the people you are meant to along the way. Never let your heart harden from ill fated consequences, life is all about risks- it requires you to jump. I took that risk moving to London but i knew if I didnt go I would have always wondered “what if” I didnt want to be the person who says “I should have” or “I could have” I wanted to be the person who says “I DID.” You can close your eyes to things you don’t want to see but you cant close your heart to things you don’t want to feel.”

Ladies, let that be a lesson for you. Real beauty emanates through your skin from inside - it enchants, appeals, invites and radiates from your soul, character and heart. It doesn’t matter how much you starve yourself, how much make-up you plaster on, how short the skirt is, how absurd the cleavage is or how many idiot men flatter you - if what’s inside is rotten, or there’s nothing in there, you’re uglier than you could ever imagine. You’ll get noticed for a minute or so, but then forgotten again in the sheer volume of others out there doing just the same as you. They’ll leer, but they won’t love you. You’ll be found out because just being nice to look at always ends up with you not being enough.

To be that, you need to be beautiful for who you are, because it is what is within that broadcasts whether you can be lived without. Those girls are the ones who have the men of their dreams, passionate love and the wonderful romances, and draw the attention wherever they go, even when on the ugly days. Maybe your obsession with beauty is that you’re trying to cover (the lack of) something else up and been obsessing over totally the wrong thing. All it takes for a man to remove the power of a woman’s sexuality is for him to say “no,” or simply ignore you by looking at the next one instead. All the cosmetics in the world can’t save you from the rest of the world seeing what you don’t have.
