Every generation has its absurdly talented artists, and you tend to find that those who make the most wonderful works are those who go completely from the heart, being totally in love with what they want to express. And that for me is what music is - the language of the soul, and the manifestation of the feelings of the heart in sensory material form. When you think about it, music in itself is a miracle. It is a magic substance that translates what we feel in spirit into something that comes into our ears and back into our heart, and the hearts of others. It is more natural to us than speaking. And as with dancing and singing, it is more natural to us than walking, building or thinking.
When feelings become material, this is what it looks and sounds like. Turn out the lights, light a candle, lay back on the sofa, smoke a cigarrette and lose yourself whilst it takes you somewhere else.

Joe Satriani performing “Love Thing“. Every note is perfectly placed and phrased. This is so going to be playing at my wedding.
Pat Metheny, the world’s greatest Jazz artist, doing an acoustic compilation of his songs to an audience live in Switzerland. Simple, gentle, beautiful, atmospheric and something that just takes your breath away.
Steve Vai doing the unimitable “For The Love Of God“. Musically it’s just amazing, even if Steve really needs to understand that the 80s have come and gone. What this guy can do with a guitar is simply incredible.
