My time in TV-land so far has been very interesting, and one of the things i’ve learnt through the self-admission of producers, editors and commissioners is that they have no idea when it comes to producing online and interactive elements for TV shows. They don’t get it, don’t really care and don’t have a whole load of motivation to learn either.
So i talked to Broadcast magazine about writing an article because of my technology background, and it’s ended up as a white paper/document guide that summarises the main points and re-frames technology for the eyes of TV producers.
Inside:
- The secret of using technology in TV shows
- Basic rules for succeeding
- Finding and developing new ideas
- Telephony and mobiles
- Involving the audience
- Stirring up trouble
- Using innovative new media systems
- The big DO NOT DO list.

“IPTV/VoD: The Open 4th Platform is an anthology of 20+ articles written between 2005-2008 by one of the media industry’s most irreverent and respected leaders, Alexander Cameron. Widely published all over the world and written in his trademarked easily-read cynical style, his insight into the future of television has been cited by hundreds of CEOs and business leaders as a seminal reference for anyone wanting to understand the opportunities and problems of the brave new world. His insight has earned him the title of “one of the greatest minds of his generation” in the UK press.
But more that, IPTV/VoD: The Open 4th Platform is Cameron’s unique vision of how the Internet could eventually connect all electronic devices across the globe and be the hyper-intelligent television network of the 21st century, along with his damning critique of how all the industry has only managed to clone cable TV systems so far, despite it being so much more. But it has to retain the characteristics of the Internet to work: open, free, neutral and globally accessible to everyone.”
The paper discusses:
* How the New Age “belief” system is vacuous and collapses under the slightest scrutiny;
* That ancient “knowledge” and “wisdom” is nothing but ancient ignorance of 21st century science;
* The gross misappropriation of scientific principles such as Mass-Energy Equivalence, Chaos Theory, String Theory and Quantum Mechanics;
* How the meaningless language, obscurantism and vague terminology misleads the gullible;
* That the principles of Relativism are fundamentally flawed and meaningless;
* That the arguments used as a basis for New Age belief are laughable;
* How mysticism is driven by rebellion against the Church and patriachal culture;
* Blatant fraudulence, silliness and outright quackery that isn’t mysterious at all.
Topics, concepts and practices featured include:
Alchemy, Angels, Astral projection, Astrology, Auras, Automatic writing, Biorhythms, Chakras, Channeling, Chaos magic, Charismatics, Clairvoyance, Color Therapy, Crystals, Divination, Dowsing, Dreaming, Extra-sensory perception, Faith Healing, Feng Shui, Homeopathy,, I-Ching, Kabbalah, Levitation, Magick, Mediumship, Necromancy, Neo-paganism, Nostradamus, Numerology, Oracles, Ouija, Palmistry, Past life regression, Psychic phenomenon, Psychokinesis, Psychometry, Reiki, Reincarnation, Remote viewing, Scientology, Shamanism, Sorcery, Spirit Guides, Synchronicity, Tarot, Telepathy, Wicca.
“Let Me Know Your Name is a deep personal search for the Creator, and a unique perspective on Christianity through the sceptical eyes of science and reason. Starting with hard scientific facts, the book explores evolution, abiogenesis, biblical reliability, theological argument, medical evidence and the extradimensional nature of God to present a case that is solid foundation for belief in the Christian God.”
“No stone is left unturned and no question is too difficult to answer, because belief should always be questioned and validated. Let Me Know Your Name explains how all the pieces fit together for a new generation of enquiring minds used to cynical politics, conspiracy theories and moral relativism.”
Rockstar 2.0 (www.rockstar2.co.uk) is a framework and set of resources created by Alexander Cameron for the independent musc industry - independent artists, independent managers, and independent labels who are excited about what the Internet is doing for music. It is a published DIY guide to doing all things Internet & digital media (the Rockstar 2.0 Report PDF) and soon, a DVD documentary.
The 100-page Rockstar 2.0 Report white paper doesn’t pull any punches or spare any prisoners with its controversial no-bullshit approach and may not be a comfortable read. The DVD is even worse.
The people supporting the Rockstar 2.0 Project are a diverse selection of young London-based companies who are digital media specialists, including Digital TX Limited (IPTV/Video On Demand), UseYourEars.com, Archangel^ Music Group, Native Tongue Promotions and Mediabitch PR.
Some of the UK’s most promising artists have also leant their support to the project: Some Velvet Morning, Mancini, Envy & Other Sins, Komodo Wagon & Thinking For Tuesday.
